MyFaves- Dollton Couples

I think my success rate as a doll match maker is pretty good. There have been only two flops out of ten so far. Today, I want to show case my five favorite couples living in Dollton.

Darren and Grace Davis
Darren is a web designer. Grace is a florist and the owner of Bloom Service, a local flower shop. These two were made for each other…literally. Mattel created the Darren character to be Grace’s boyfriend, so naturally they make the perfect couple. Darren and Grace have one child- a son named Julian (age 5). Here Grace models one of the fashions from that combo pack I mentioned in my last post. I took two pictures, so you could see it with and without the jacket. The tee says LOVE and is a separate piece from the skirt.

Matthew and Tory Amber Foreman
Dr. Matthew Foreman is an orthopedic specialist in sports medicine. He is one of the team physicians for the Atlanta Hawks. His wife, Tory Amber, writes a column for the Arts & Entertainment section of the newspaper. She is also on the charity board for a local nonprofit. They have twin daughters, Macee and  Makenna (age 6).
*Tory Amber was an early birthday gift from the hubby. Squee! I need to find her an articulated body.

Thomas and Camille Edwards
Dr. Edwards has his own practice, Dollton Family Medicine. Camille, a former accountant, is now a SAHM and PTA treasurer for their daughter’s elementary school. They have two children, Serena (age 6) and Thomas Junior, better known as Tommy (age 3). Camille is Grace’s older sister.

My first flop as a match maker was my attempt to pair Dr. Edwards with Baby Phat Chandra. There was NO chemistry whatsoever. Who knew such a thing was even possible? This was how I learned that just because I have two dolls paired in my mind, it’s no guarantee that it will work out in real (well, not quite real, but you know what I mean) life.

Jamal and Lena Joyner
Jamal is the pastor of the local church.  His wife Lena used to be a teacher. Now she oversees the youth ministry and counsels victims of domestic violence. They have four children.

Marisa de la Cruz and Stanley Kirk

Marisa is a celebrity singer/songwriter who grew up in Dollton. She now resides in Atlanta. Since, Dollton is just outside of metro Atlanta, she visits whenever she can. Stanley, a music producer, worked with Marisa on her first two albums. The couple has been dating for almost a year.

  1. Cute couples! I love seeing Stanley in regular attire. Congrats on your doll matchmaking abilities. Some of my couples have not done so well, but I have a few that have been together for 10+ years.

    1. Yes, Stanley is quite handsome in regular attire. When I told my husband about my plans to buy an MC Hammer doll and showed him the picture, his reply was, "I hope he's not gonna be walkin' around in that gold suit! You need to get him something to wear." I laughed and said, "Of course I plan to get him something to wear, though I hope he's not going to be walking around at all considering he's a doll!"

  2. Whuuut? I had no idea that Darren was supposed to be Grace's boyfriend. Then again, the dolls had been out for years before I ever heard of them so I didn't know their backstories. I know Matthew is Mattel, but are the other guys from Mattel too? Darren is the only one I recognize.

    1. Yep, there's even a cute two doll set (Love 2 Chill Grace and Darren) with accessories for an ice cream date. All these handsome fellas are Mattel. In order: Rocawear Darren, Divergent Four, AA Dr. Ken, Jamal Handsome Boyfriend of Shani, and MC Hammer.

  3. Dr. and Mrs. Edwards do appear to have massive chemistry!

The Joyners exude "preacher and wife who does charity work."

My favorite of these, though, is Marisa and Stanley. MC Hammer cleans up nicely.

    1. Your comments are crackin' me up! From the moment she was out of the box, Camille has been hugged up under her man. I don't blame her...he's a cutie pie. I don't know why Chandra wasn't feeling him. And yes, Hammer cleans up nicely. It's too bad I couldn't do something about that awful ponytail in the back of his head- lol.

  4. Just found your blog today after seeing your comment on mine. I read all of your posts -- you started your blog the day after my birthday. Just love your couples. Like Muff, I was surprised when you said that Grace and Darren were a "real life" couple. Let me know when you get the follow me button working. I had the same problem with figuring out how to add the button, but the instructions are on the blogger help page. Good luck. I look forward to following your progress.

    1. Phyllis, thanks so much for telling me where to find the instructions! I tried unsuccessfully to figure it out a few weeks ago.

  5. I like Lena's outfit. Looks like something a minister's wife would wear. Not skin tight or sequinny, lol.

Nice looking couples. I look forward to reading more about them and their families.

    1. Thanks, D7ana! As much as I would love to showcase Lena's curves, I know she has an image to uphold and three impressionable daughters to consider.

    1. Hi, Frenchy! Welcome. I have a couple of stories in the works. I'm trying to figure out how to work around my limited supply of props for photo stories. I'm really eager to do the story of how Matt and Amber got together. This story was largely inspired by my husband seeing the picture of them together and asking, "How'd he get a chick like that?" I said, "It's actually a pretty interesting story." Now, I can't wait to tell it!
