Diorama Goodies at Local Craft Stores

Hello Dolleagues!

I have been terribly busy and unable to finish the photo story I started, but at Little Jewell's insistence I am going to share a couple of diorama goodies I picked up at my local craft stores.

First up is this pair of beach chairs I found on sale at Hancock Fabrics. It was mentioned at our April doll club meeting that a nearby location was having a store closing sale. A group of us decided to head over after the meeting to check out the fabric selection. I found these on a table of spring decor and could tell right away they were Barbie-sized. Georgia Girl convinced me to go ahead and buy them even though I wasn't crazy about the price or the painted stripes.

Little Jewell demonstrates the scale.
Next, we ventured down the walkway to Michael's and that's where Rita found a roll of canvas (see below) that she thought could be used to make over our beach chairs. It was on sale, and since a roll was way more than one needed to customize a couple of chairs, we purchased and split one roll among the three of us.

Cool blues make me think of the ocean.

I knew there had to be a reason she was anxious for me to finish the job!

Michael's was having another great sale. Alas, the item we were looking for was not on sale that week. It was this new scrap book paper in white brick. Check it out in the bar below. The scale is just right, and it's a nice alternative to that brown brick from Joann's.

Well, that's all for now. I hope to have that story finished soon. Bye!

  1. Everything looks cool! I was just in Michael's the past weekend and didn't even venture to the paper section. I'll remember that though, the next time they have a sale.

    Thanks for the heads up!

  3. Those chairs are fantastic! They look very current and glam with the new upholstery.

For anybody going to Michaels... my nearest one has reduced the scrapbook section but gone hog wild for papers with big, bold patterns.

There is also a Barbie-sized toaster to be had for 1.99 over toward the toy section -- it comes on a key ring.

    1. I hope you find something good, jSarie. There's another location closer to my house that I plan to check out, too. I don't know if it's closing or not, but I'm sure they'll have a different selection than the first store.

  7. Love your makeover version of the chairs. I didn't see this version of beach chair at the Hancock's I went to, it was more Adirondack style. I am feeling that white brick paper. Looks very chic in your bar.

    1. Thanks, Vanessa. I was actually hoping to find some Adirondack chairs. I guess I'll check out another Hancock's and see what else I can find. I'm loving that white brick paper. Robyn's club is about to get a total make over.

  9. I love the white brick. I have yet to see it in the store (as if I need more paper). I like it where you have it. It's very nice.

    1. Thanks, Janainah. To be honest, when I have found it in store, there wasn't much of it. It makes me think it's going to be a very good seller.

    1. I hope you find something great. I stopped into a different Hancock Fabrics yesterday and found a few more goodies, like tiny shells for beach house decor and little signs that are perfect for a coffee shop.
