Meet Meiling, the Asian Made to Move Barbie. I had originally planned to buy the Asian Fashionista in the kitty top and rebody her on a Divergent Tris body, but when I saw that Mattel had a soon to be released doll with the same facial sculpt plus 18 points of articulation, I decided to wait.
Here are a few pictures of her packaging. I've seen an AA version of this doll in promo images, but have not seen her offered for sale. There's a small picture on the bottom front of the package, but the AA doll is not shown on the back with the three dolls I've seen for sale.

I was too tired for a lengthy body comparison, so I just grabbed a Liv doll from a recent thrift purchase and Ally whose body donor was a 2015 Style Teresa with flat feet. You can see that Meiling has wider hips and fuller thighs than Liv and Ally. She has an athletic build, which I like. If you look closely at her upper thigh and upper arm, you will see a crease where her arms and legs swivel to provide some truly incredible posing ability. Her torso joint has an impressive range of motion as well. Sorry, too tired to take photos of this, but may update later.
And here are some photos of her redressed. She can wear older and newer Barbie fashions. She does a better job filling out the jeans from the newer fashion packs than the current Fashionistas. She can wear Sparkle Girlz fashions, and she was able to wear the one model muse dress (tea party) that I tried on her, too.
Meiling's articulation makes it possible for her to do an impressive number of things like curl up in a chair to read, and even hold the phone. If she were to hook up with an action figure, they could get into some pretty kinky stuff...just sayin'.
Me and my mini-me...can't wait to get our hands on these dolls. :-)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to buy the others, but this one has convinced me that I need them all.
DeleteThey are awesome! I do have all of them plus I used my Amazon card credits to purchase some extras to have on hand as body donors. The only problem I have with them is that, at least on the ones I got, the Barbie and the Lea dolls have extreme glue in their heads. The Theresa (or whomever she is!) does not have glue. Since I already had the Lea with the kitty jumper, I swapped the heads as she didn't have the glue. I do love the poseability of these dolls. Hopefully, we will see the AA one out soon!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you were able to get them all, Phyllis! Bummer about the glue. My fingers are crossed that the AA one will be available soon. I don't have many dolls with her face mold.
DeleteLove your photos. Its cool to see how she looks in different outfits. She redresses really well! I can't wait to get mine!
ReplyDeleteHi, Havilland Parker! Welcome to my blog, and thanks for the compliment on the photos. Yes, she does redress well. I have a whole stack of things that I want to try on her when I get time.
DeleteI want one of these, but since I already bought the Pink Lea doll you mentioned and a Tris body to rebody her, I didn't want the same face mold. I do want the articulation though. I will wait for the AA one to come out and try to snatch at least one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing her flexibility. She does look wonderful for posing. So which action figure in your supply also sees the possibilities?
Janainah, it's a good idea to get the Lea one, too even if it's just to have on hand as a body donor. That pale complexion is hard to come by in playline. My new Asian Power Team guy saw the possibilities when I was posing Andrea for photos, but he was quickly reminded by my Mixis Emerald doll that he is not available for any acrobatics he might be considering. He's a little mature looking for Andrea anyways. Their relationship would start quite the scandal around here- LOL
DeleteThanks for this review! I think I'm getting one soon....
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't have to wait very long to get one, Shasha.
DeleteI see how you guys do. Nobody said anything about the sale when it was happening. Shame. Shame. Shame. Lol! Congrats. I would have gotten a couple at that price.
ReplyDeleteLOL- Vanessa, I was at work on my lunch break when I first noticed they were back in stock. I couldn't post from my phone, and by the time I got home I was afraid to post a PSA because they go in and out of stock so fast it's ridiculous. I didn't buy more at the time because I'm curious to see what they will cost in stores. I definitely have plans to get more, though.
DeleteGreat review! She's an interesting doll!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, she is one of the most interesting playline dolls Mattel has put out in a while.
DeleteCongratulations on getting her! She s the only one that I would like to have thus far. I hope that they hit the stores real soon. They are getting pretty popular amongst collectors.
ReplyDeleteI've been searching far and wide. Something tells me we won't see them in stores until 2016. I want all of them, but I know at least two will be body donors. I'll make up my mind about the AA doll when I see her in person.
DeleteWhelp, that's another one I want to get, lol.
ReplyDeleteThis doll is definitely worth picking up. At first I only wanted this one. That's why I didn't bother ordering the others. Now that I see how amazing they are, I want them all!
DeleteHow all of you guys are lucky to have this doll. I cannot find this doll anywhere. I hope in january this doll will be available to Walmart or Toys r us.
ReplyDeleteThese are available at Toysrus online right now.
DeleteThanks for that update, Mary Young! I went online as soon as I saw your comment. Now, I'm just waiting for the Target exclusive AA one to show up in stores.
DeleteHi Jewell!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your dolls, sets, and story lines! Did I mention the love? lol
ReplyDeleteI just ordered the Made to Move Bambi and Lea dolls today!!! Now, after seeing your doll in these cool poses, I can't wait to get them!!
Here's a cool FYI Ladies...I ordered mine from Toy'R'Us- which is still selling them for $14.99!!
Thanks for the wonderful feedback Eve and for the news about TRU's price on the Made to Move dolls. Bambi is on her way to me. Now I'm just waiting for the Target exclusive AA doll to show up in stores. I saw the other three on Target's shelves before Christmas.
DeleteI've only bought one of the MTM dolls. Sigh. So have to get the others. Thanks for sharing these photos of your MTM doll redressed and with other articulated doll bodies. MTM seems to have a more mature build.
